Fun Ways to Bust the Boredom at Home

Creative and fun ideas for quarantine

How are you?

It’s been several weeks of social distancing and you’ve likely exhausted all your best ideas for staying at home and being productive, having fun, and trying to make the best of this situation.  All of the Netflix shows have been watched, the closets have been cleaned out, and the banana bread has been baked.

Although we are at home quarantining right now, we can still have some fun and enjoy our time, as much as possible.  So, here I’ve listed 5 creative and fun quarantine ideas, for both couples and children/families! I hope these offer you some fresh new fun, or inspire you to come up with your own!

Campout where you are. Whether in your backyard, living room or bedroom, a campout is always fun! Mark and I just had a bonfire and smores in our backyard, which is one of my favorite things to do.  There’s something about being in nature, hearing the simple sounds, and just good-old fashioned nostalgic fun!

Chopped: Quarantine edition.  Have a few ingredients you want to use up before they go bad? Have a “Chopped” style competition to see who can create the best dish using only those foods, and set a timer!

Game night.  Get all of your board games, playing cards, etc. and have a fun game night! If you don’t have any games, here are some you can play with just a paper and pen: Hangman, tic tac toe, and 20 questions.

Have a spa night.  Again, this is something that you can do with minimal things around your house,  and is great to do with your significant other or children! Put on a robe or your comfiest clothes.  Make some spa water with cucumbers and mint, or lemon and orange slices, if you have.  Place boiled and cooled tea bags or cucumber slices over your eyes.  Fill a basin or large bowl with hot water, Epsom salts, and a few drops of essential oils you have (peppermint, lavender or eucalyptus are perfect) for a foot soak.  Apply lotion, coconut oil, or even olive oil to your hands and cuticles and wrap in a warm towel.

  • Make a pantry-friendly hair mask by mixing together 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of ACV and leave on for 30 minutes.  Another option is combining half an avocado, 1 Tbs of olive oil , 1 egg, and 1 Tba of honey and apply this to wet hair for 30 minutes then rinse.

  • Make a pantry-friendly face mask with 1 Tbs oatmeal, 1 tsp honey, and 1 tsp water, mix together and apply for 10 minutes.  Or, mash 1 avocado with 1 tsp avocado oil and apply for 15 minutes.  Light some candles, play some relaxing spa music, and you’ll be zen at home before you know it!

Enjoy these quarantine activities!

Let me know which you’re going to do or have already done-I’d love to hear!
