How to Make This Summer Your Most Fulfilling and Nurturing Season!

Boston health and wellness nurse coach for women

I love the fresh start and promise of a new season, especially summer (my personal favorite!). There’s just something about the longer, warmer sunnier days, outside time, barefoot, bonfire nights, beach trips and all the fresh garden and farmer’s market goodness!

…Speaking of keeping cool, start your day off with my famous spa smoothie here! If you haven’t already added a morning smoothie to your routine, this is a perfectly refreshing one to try right now (and get in a handful of veggie servings, too).

Smoothies are one of the best ways to start the day strong with the feel-good fuel of veggies, protein, healthy fats, and fiber!

Friends, let’s call this summer: Self Care Summer!

After the past 2+ years, this summer is the time to simplify, reflect, and create some supportive routines that are all about prioritizing and caring for yourself so you can feel your best.

I’ve put together a list of 5 simple yet powerful ideas to help you connect back to yourself, nature, and enjoy the best parts of summer!

  1. Think about how you want to feel this summer and let this feeling drive your other habits.

  2. Have fun with a summer evening routine like going on a walk after dinner, sitting outside with a bonfire, watching lightning bugs, etc.

  3. Create a JOY list of all the things that bring you joy and commit to doing more of these this summer, with more fun and play!

  4. Spend as much time outside as possible, especially walking anywhere you can (and don’t forget your SPF-I love this one built with beautiful coverage in their super serum skin tint).

  5. Simplify summer dinners to keep things easy, so you can spend more time having fun, and avoid decision fatigue. Here are 4 simple meal templates to give you some loose structure for summer nights:

    1) Grill any and everything (peaches, pineapple, watermelon (yes!), romaine lettuce, all the veggies, chicken, potatoes, corn, portobello mushrooms, onions, etc.)

    2) Tacos

    3) Kitchen-sink skillet (using my healthy plate template to make it a balanced meal with protein, healthy fat, fiber, and greens all in a skillet)

    4) Bowls layered with a grain or cauliflower rice, protein, lots of veggies and a sauce (everyone can create their own to their liking, such as a burger bowl, buddha bowl, etc.)

And, if you’re looking to take things up a notch with vitamins and supplements to support your health and wellness, here are the ones I personally use and recommend. One of my health coaching clients was just telling me last week how much of a difference these have made to her energy, mood, and sleep used in addition to the healthy lifestyle habits we’ve created together!
