Recharge List: How to Refresh and Overcome Overwhelm

Do you struggle with knowing how to refresh and recharge in the midst of the day to day fullness of our busy lives?

If you have found yourself feeling unmotivated, let everyone and everything on your to-do list come before you, or need a little help coming back to healthy habits that support the way you want to feel, I am here for you.

Like many new health coaching clients I see, you’re likely running on empty more than you’d like, feeling ready to elevate your energy, manage your stress, and feel more like yourself. Creating a “Recharge List” is just what you need!

What exactly IS a “Recharge List” ?

It’s a simple list of specific items that you know help to recharge you and fill your cup back up. This helps you feel the way you want to feel and be the person you want to be.

Two types of recharge that are important to include are a form of rest as well as a form on unproductive play! This means, it purely for play, joy, and entertainment, with no worries of being productive or getting something done while in this act.

Here are some prompts to help you create your unique list:

What fills your cup?

What makes you lose track of time?

What type of rest feels best to you?

What form of (unproductive) play feels best to you?

What makes you feel recharged? Where? With who (or alone)?

What gives you energy?

What makes you feel most like yourself?

What type of movement feels good for your body and recharges you?

Whenever you feel stressed, overwhelmed, or burned out, turn to this list to practice the forms of self care that you know will recharge you. This takes the guesswork and willpower out of it, saving you time, energy, and sanity! Yes, please.

Communicate this need to a partner or loved one so they can support you as well. For example, “Hey (partner), I am feeling drained, so I need to go take a walk by myself and then enjoy a cup of tea in the bedroom, if you could help with the kids.”

A huge bonus: it takes no extra mental energy (we all know that decision fatigue is very real) because your list is already made and vetted by you. Win-win!

Consider your Recharge List to be a vote for putting yourself high on “the list” just like your loved ones are.

So go ahead my friend, create your Recharge List! Consider this a checkmark in your self care box and a vote for putting yourself high on “the list” just like your loved ones are.

Here’s to recharging ourselves and honoring our worth and wellbeing!
